Very South Indian view.
Do you understand the lyrics? Why no word on Gulzar?.
Moreover i feel Alka Yagnik sang beautifully in Ey Hairathe.
We look so minutely into the songs and music - which Rahman always delivers. But it's Mani's execution that has always let me down - and it's all deja vu again...
Mani and most indian film makers have this over simplification bug - AB Jr will become a millionaire in one song - Baazi Laga and... God, i wish the film stays away from all the kidding and delivers too.
But for the meaning - the begining of "Jaage Hain" reminded me of Hui Main Parineeta (Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal) - the bit song. Starting with a sigh - dialogue like - and the feelings conveyed...
I have always noticed the best music directors at the moment - leave a lot of impressions in Rahman's head - Shantanu Moitra here, Ismail Darbar before etc., he even works with them to know what they are really made of ;) - wonder what he observed in Bappi Lahiri...
i sensed some Laxmikant Pyarelal also in Mayya Maryem but then... these are just my observations and could be quite meaningless...
somehow i feel there can be nobody like Laxmikant Pyarelal... their vigor and ... nobody's nowhere near...

Music has no language. Of course, i can partially understand Hindi, but didn't want to comment on Gulzar's lyrics because when you don't know completely or even what it is about something, you have no right speak about its quality. That is why i didn't mention anything about Gulzar. Even in my Tamil music reviews , though i know Tamil very weil, most of the time i don't speak about the lyrics except when something extraordinary comes up which forces me to listen to the lyrics also. Of course Akla Yagnik has done a good job in that good, and i think, i have mentioned that.
