Finally, the most awaited promo of the year has come out. From the promo of 'Guru', it seems the movie has a serious Iruvar hang over. May be because of lot of stages, speeches, mikes, period look and crowd noises. The background score of the teaser travels with the feel of the visuals starting with a rustic rhythms to a grand heroic theme. It doesn't say when the audio is going to be released though it says the movie will out in December which means the audio may hit the market anytime this month. Take a look at the trailer here

I must say that the trailer was a letdown. Like you said, had a pronounced Iruvar hangover. Abhishek somehow looks very unconvincing, may be these kind of roles are not his cup of tea. Anyway, lets wait for the movie.
Filbert, Actually i was not disappointed, may be it was not as expected but that is what happens with Maniratnam, you never get what you expect...
Suresh, What I heard that this is the story of thirubai ambani. I don't know how much true it is. But the trailer also looks like the same.
same here........the trailer doesnt look so exciting. It looks like another semi-docu drama, like Iruvar, but without the strong acting skills of someone like mohanlal. Casting of Abhishek is such a surprise. But then, I cant think of a single performer among the younger lot who would fit in that role&can give a moving performance like a lal, mammootty or a kamal.
Abhi looks like he is play acting...I didnt get any goosebumps this time, like I usually get when watching a teaser/trailer of a new ratnam movie.
